1) The Great West Indies batsman Vivian Richards scored 1013 runs at an average of 63.31 in 23 World Cup innings. In 1979 World Cup he scored 138 runs against England,    and this inning is considered as the best World Cup innings. Vivian Richards is the only player in the World Cricket who played both FIFA and ICC World Cup. He represented Antigua in football and West Indies in cricket.

2) South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs is the only batsman in the World Cricket who smashed 6 – sixes in an over. He achieve this record in 2007 World Cup. He made this record against Holland.He smashed 6-sixes in Dutch leg-spinner Dan van Bunge.

3) 24 years back on October 22, 1987 in a World Cup match India defeat Australia, it was the last chance when India defeat Australia in World Cup. In that match India defeat Australia by 56 runs.

4) Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar is the only batsman in the World Cricket who batted the full 60 overs in the opening match of 1975 World Cup against England. This match was played at Lord’s and he score just 36 runs.

5) This type of thing never happen with any player which happen with Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev played one of the finest knocks in the 1983 World Cup against Zimbabwe. He made 175 runs, but unfortunate that match was not recorded nor broad casted, because at that day BBC cameramen were on strike.
  

6) Kepler Wessels is the only player who played for two countries in World Cup. He played for Australia in 1983 World Cup and for South Africa in 1992 World Cup.

7) The first bowl bowled in World Cup history by Indian bowler Mandan Lal to England’s Denis Amiss at Lord’s on June 7, 1975.

  Australia is the only team in the history of  World Cup to remain undefeated throughout World Cup. Australia was undefeated in 2003 and 2007 World Cups.

9) Australian pace bowler Glenn McGrath is the highest wicket taker bowler in the World Cup. He took 71 wickets.

14) Sunil Gavaskar had made a World record in the test cricket by making 34 test centuries, but he had only one ODI century which he made in just 85 balls.

15) Chetan Sharma was the first bowler in the Cricket World Cup who took the first World Cup Hat-Trick. He took hat-trick in 1987 World Cup. He achieved the feat against New Zealand at Nagpur on October 31, 1987.

16) Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad has played in most World Cups i.e. 6 – World Cups.

17) The fastest bowl was bowled by Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhatar against England. He deleverd that bowl at the speed of 100 mph, and that bowl was received by England batsman Nick Knight.

18) Australia Ricky Ponting and Glenn McGrath have plyed 39 matches each in the Cricket World Cup.

19) Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram completed his 500 ODi wickets in 2003 World Cup.

20) Sri Lanka became the first team who batted second in the World Cup and won. They beat Australia in 1996 World Cup final.
